I’d like to take a few minutes to write to you about my experience with Maximum Scuba in Houston, Texas, and even more specifically my instructor, Pat Keller. I too used to be in the retail/consumer industry and know all too well we tend to hear the bad experiences about 10 times as often as we hear about the good ones. I’d taken the class about 12 years ago through a man my father had located prior to taking a trip to Cozumel and diving. Time went by and I forgot most everything but reached a stage in my life I wanted to pursue it again so I decided to start over with the Open Water Diver class. I chose Maximum Scuba based on some reviews I read online, but to be perfectly honest location had alot to do with it. The dive shop is about 15 minutes from my house. From day one in the classroom I knew we were going to have a unique experience. Mr. Keller knew exactly how to deliver the necessary information to each member of our class. There were 7 of us total, including a 12 year old boy who thought Pat was the coolest thing ever. It felt as though we were receiving a one-on-one session. His humor never overpowered the important nature of the information he was conveying. He took the time to work with each and every one of us, always assuring us he would “stay as long as he had to” to make sure we understood every piece of information we were receiving. Halfway through the week, I decided I wanted to pursue my Advanced OWD course and signed up to ensure I would have Pat as my instructor. The weekend at the lake was fantastic and by 1:00pm Sunday afternoon, every one of the 7 students in my class had decided to move forward with their Advanced OWD certification. As others have said, I too do not typically take the time to email/call/survey, etc. describing my experience, but in this case I felt it was the very least I could do. I plan to continue my diving adventures and studies and will be using Maximum Scuba all the way. Thank you, -William L. Forkner
